Wisteria in Kameido

Kameido Tenjin Shrine (亀戸天神社 in Japanese) is known for its wisteria that bloom between April and May.

Living close to the place, I've had the chance to explore the premises many times. Its beautiful arched red bridge and the turtles living in harmony with the carps make it a place of choice to resource yourself far away from the bustling of city life.

Not in late April, though, when the shrine holds its fuji-matsuri and fills with tourists from Japan and overseas. They all come to contemplate the blooming wisteria, but who can blame them? The spectacle is truly breathtaking.

The scene appears as taken out of a Demon Slayer live action. That night, we were lucky enough to have a bright moon to illuminate it.

One last notable feature of the shrine is that it sits just south of the Tokyo Sky Tree. Of course, this was not something planned at the time of its building, or even when it was rebuilt after WW2 bombings, more of a happy coincidence, but it surely compliments the scenery beautifully.
